Moving Forward, Resolutions for 2017
The beauty of a new year is that it gives you a new canvas upon which to craft a beautiful vision, ambition, goal and most importantly–new better realistic resolutions. One thing about resolutions is that when we follow them, they are quite rewarding. When we procrastinate about them, a new year always presents us the chance to start over again. Kick start your new year with these six:
Be a better parent to your children
It starts with the simple act of doing for them back to school shopping. Amazing offers normally trickle in at this time because back to school is not about making a dent in your pocket. Talk about the ease of ordering from the comfort of your office or home to getting gift vouchers for making purchases and being guaranteed free delivery*. This only happens at TBC.
Attend open days for your kids and bond with them too. Buying them toys is good. It gets better when you join them at school to celebrate their feats. Children need you to teach them simple sudokus and watch them run during track events at school.
Get a diary.
Have you ever stumbled on the phrase failing to plan is planning to fail? Well, now you know it. In this digital space, freelance type of jobs require that you be organized before time passes by and voila…nothing much has been done. Projects pending. Interviews missed. Meetings forgotten. You definitely don’t want that in the coming new year. Get your diaries and weekly planners ready. Watch yourself do much by simply planning.
Join a book club.
Ours is free. There is nothing more rewarding like reading and having a great company of friends (and beautiful strangers) to exchange opinions and thoughts concerning a certain exciting read. You get to read books you never imagined would find a home in your hands. You get to experience divergent views from people you never dreamed of crossing paths with.
Read a book before you watch it’s movie
Cliff hangers are great. However, when a movie has the potential to leaves many gaps in its stroyline –why not read the book then enjoy the movie? We have:
Get financial books (money matters, anyway)
Ensure that the cents you get make sense. If you can, get a financial advisor or expert who can better inform you on savvy investment options that will serve you better in the long term. Books are also great sources for financial advice. When it comes to savings and investments, only one question answers it. How bad do you want it?
Motivate yourself some more
We all get worn out and beaten by various hardships and petty things that drain our energy as we try to make it to the end of the year. You will realize that sometimes you will have to chase after motivation with a book club. Motivational books are available to keep you going, to fuel your ambitions and even make you better.
It’s not what we do once in a while in a while that shapes our lives. It’s what we do consistently.
Happy new year!
